Is your child advanced? Or need to go a little slower than average? Or too young to enroll elsewhere? Something else? LCFAA may be the place for you. Meet Mrs. Kirkpatrick!
Professor Emerita of Music from Ohio Northern University, Dr. MJ Sunny Zank, taught Music Theory, Music History and Ethnomusicology while retaining her roots in piano and violin. As a violinist she performed with numerous orchestras in Germany, Canada and the US — most recently the Lima Symphony and the ONU Symphony. Dr. Zank holds degrees in Music History, and Music Theory/Composition from the University of Northern Colorado and the University of Oregon. Currently Dr. Sunny teaches strings/piano to a wide variety of students and continues to give presentations of her research.
Our piano teacher, Dawn Stratton, has taught piano for 30+ years. Her instruction began in her youth with Mr. Richard Hire, graduate of American Conservatory of Music, and continued as an adult with Mrs. Mary Jane Hamblen, graduate of The Ohio State University in Music Education. Mrs. Stratton’s fine work is evidenced in her students’ music theory knowledge and good technical form. She comes highly recommended and is currently accepting students.
